Zinc Anode for the protection of pipeline and marine structures from corrosion Sacrificial ( galvanic ) cathodic protection anodes are cheaper than impressed current cathodic protection anode. These anodes are otherwise known as galvanic cathodic protection anode. Zinc alloy anodes are having high driving voltage, so that zinc anodes are suitable for the protection of pipeline and marine structures from corrosion in high conductivity electrolyte ( seawater ) at ambient temperatures.
Zinc alloy anode can also be used in applications where spark hazards need to be avoided as in storage tanks containing flammable hazards.
